Lymphatic drainage

Gentle manual lymphatic drainage for swelling, heaviness and oedema, with advice you can use every day.

It can support

  • Swelling (oedema) and a feeling of heaviness
  • Fluid retention, for example in the legs
  • Recovery after surgery, once your doctor has cleared you
  • Circulatory discomfort

What a session looks like

  1. Health history first

Some conditions mean lymphatic drainage is not appropriate, so Teresa always checks your medical history before treatment.

  2. A gentle, rhythmic technique

Light, slow movements on the skin that follow the direction of the lymphatic system.

  3. Support between sessions

Breathing, movement and positioning advice, and simple self-massage where it helps.

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle, rhythmic hands-on technique. It uses light, slow movements on the skin that follow the natural direction of the lymphatic system, the network that helps the body manage fluid.

Teresa combines it with breathing, movement and simple strategies you can use at home, because what you do between sessions matters as much as the session itself.

When it is not the right choice

Please tell Teresa about your full medical history. Lymphatic drainage is not appropriate with some conditions, such as an active infection, a suspected blood clot or certain heart and kidney conditions. If you have sudden or one-sided swelling, see a doctor first.

Every plan starts with an individual assessment. This page is general information, not a diagnosis.

Techniques Teresa may use

  • Manual lymphatic drainage
  • Breathing and movement to support circulation
  • Self-massage and everyday advice

Principles behind it

  1. Movement

When we move with awareness, control and purpose, we engage not only muscles and joints but the nervous system, the breath and the mind.

  2. Breathing

Breathing adapts to every movement and is closely linked to posture and the autonomic nervous system. It is not about a “deeper” breath, but the right one.

Common questions

Is lymphatic drainage painful?

No. The pressure is very light and the rhythm is slow. Most people find it deeply relaxing.
