Research
Evidence, not trends
Alongside clinical work, I research how exercise and manual therapy compare, so that the plan in the treatment room rests on good evidence.

Comparative evaluation of the efficacy of therapeutic exercise versus myofascial trigger point therapy in the treatment of shoulder tendinopathies: a randomised controlled trial
BMJ Open Sport Exerc Med 2024;10(4):e002043
The study
Randomised controlled trial · 72 participants
Compared a therapeutic exercise programme with myofascial trigger point therapy over ten sessions in people with long-standing shoulder tendinopathy.
What we found
Both approaches improved pain and shoulder range of motion. Exercise led to a greater improvement in sensitivity to pressure, and can also be delivered in groups or remotely.

Therapeutic Exercise Parameters, Considerations and Recommendations for the Treatment of Non-Specific Low Back Pain: International DELPHI Study
J Pers Med 2023;13(10):1510
The study
International Delphi consensus · 35 physiotherapists
Brought physiotherapy experts together over four rounds to agree how therapeutic exercise should be prescribed for non-specific low back pain.
What we found
Agreement on supervised sessions twice a week, 30 to 60 minutes, for three to six months, built on posture, body awareness, breathing and movement control, and tailored to each person's needs, fitness and fear of movement.
PhD in progress
I am currently pursuing a doctorate alongside my clinical work. I will share more about the research here as it progresses.
Why it matters in the clinic
Research shapes the details of every plan: which exercises, how often, and how to combine them with hands-on care. It also keeps treatment honest, focused on what is likely to help rather than what is fashionable.
