Therapeutic Pilates

Physiotherapist-led, one-to-one Pilates built on an assessment, to rebuild strength, control and confidence in movement.

It can support

  • Recurring back or neck pain
  • Returning to exercise after an injury or a long break
  • Rebuilding strength after pregnancy
  • Weak core control and stiffness after long desk hours
  • Posture and body awareness

What a session looks like

  1. Assessment first

Teresa reviews your history, posture and movement, then explains what she finds in plain terms.

  2. Every exercise has a reason

Some movements rebuild strength, others restore control and coordination. Nothing is there to fill time.

  3. It grows with you

As your control improves, the exercises progress, so you keep advancing without overloading a body that is still rebuilding.

Therapeutic Pilates is not a general fitness class. It is led by a physiotherapist and shaped by a proper clinical assessment, so each session is built around your body, your history and your goals rather than a fixed routine.

The method is slow, precise and progressive. Controlled breathing supports every exercise, and close attention teaches you to sense your own body more clearly. Over time that awareness carries into daily life: you notice when you slump or brace without thinking, and better movement becomes a habit.

Built for Dubai life

Life in Dubai often swings between long hours at a desk and sudden bursts of intense activity. Neither extreme is kind to the body. Therapeutic Pilates builds steady, functional strength that supports your spine through both the sitting and the sport.

Consistency is where the change happens

A single session helps you understand what your body needs. Regular sessions are where strength and control are built. Teresa plans a realistic rhythm with you, one you can actually keep, alongside hands-on physiotherapy when that is the right combination.

Every plan starts with an individual assessment. This page is general information, not a diagnosis.

Techniques Teresa may use

  • Clinical Pilates
  • Breath and core control
  • Motor-control training
  • Progressive strengthening
  • A home programme you can keep

Principles behind it

  1. Movement

When we move with awareness, control and purpose, we engage not only muscles and joints but the nervous system, the breath and the mind.

  2. Motor control

Movement is not just muscles. It is what the brain tells the muscles to do: when, how and how much.

  3. Strength

Not just power: the capacity to meet everyday demands with control, resilience and confidence.

  4. Breathing

Breathing adapts to every movement and is closely linked to posture and the autonomic nervous system. It is not about a “deeper” breath, but the right one.

Common questions

Do I need to be fit or have done Pilates before?

No. Because every plan starts with an assessment, the programme meets you exactly where you are, whether you are a beginner or returning after a long break.

How is this different from a studio class?

A studio class is built for a room full of people. Therapeutic Pilates is built around you, your history and your goals, and it is led by a physiotherapist.
